Javaria Had a Successful Cochlear Implant Surgery
Javaria Nadeem's Story
Javaria Nadeem, a 7-year-old girl from Faisalabad, had lived in silence her entire life. Unlike other children of her age, who laugh and learn through the sounds around them, Javaria had never heard her loved ones’ voices or the sounds around her. Her parents noticed her inability to respond to noises when she was a toddler and became increasingly concerned.
They took her to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. After a detailed examination, the doctor diagnosed Javaria with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). To enable her to hear and learn to speak, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, this life-changing procedure was far beyond her family’s financial means.
Javaria lived in a modest home with her parents and three younger siblings. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a factory employee and made only PKR 35,000 per month. With mounting utility bills and educational expenses, the family’s limited income was insufficient to make ends meet, let alone afford an expensive surgery. With hope in their hearts, Javaria’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands for help. After registering her case, we assured them that we would arrange the surgery through the generous support of donors.
On December 12, 2024, Javaria was admitted to the National Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Naveed Aslam performed her cochlear implant surgery, successfully implanting the internal component. Javaria remained in the hospital for monitoring and was discharged the following day in stable condition.
After six weeks, the external component of the implant will be installed, allowing Javaria to hear for the first time. She will also begin speech therapy to develop her communication skills. Javaria’s parents shared their gratitude as follows:
“You have given our daughter the greatest gift. Words cannot express how thankful we are for your generosity and kindness.”
Javaria is now on a path to a brighter and more fulfilling future. This drastic change in her life was made possible through your kind support.
