Khalida Abid 's Story
Khalida is a 48-year-old Karachi resident who has been dealing with the negative effects of heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and frequent urination for the past four months. Seeking relief, she initially sought medical attention at a nearby clinic, where she was prescribed medications. Unfortunately, her condition only worsened over time, leading her to seek further consultation. It was during this visit that Khalida received a diagnosis that would change her life: a fibroid uterus. After undergoing a thorough examination and diagnostic tests, her doctor recommended a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO) as the most suitable treatment option.
However, Khalida’s life was burdened not only by her health problems but also by the weight of widowhood and financial constraints. She found herself in a dire situation with no means to afford the surgical expenses. Exhausting all other possibilities, Khalida turned to Transparent Hands, a beacon of hope for individuals facing similar challenges.
Through the collective compassion of Transparent Hands’ donors, the necessary funds were raised to cover the expenses of Khalida’s life-changing total hysterectomy surgery.
Khalida was admitted to Murshid Hospital, Karachi, where her operation was performed on 17-08-2023, marking the beginning of Khalida’s journey towards recovery and healing. For four days, Khalida received attentive care and treatment.
With the removal of the fibroid uterus, Khalida experienced a remarkable alleviation of the painful symptoms that had plagued her for an extended period. Not only did the procedure provide her with relief on a physical level, but it also lifted a heavy burden of emotional stress that had accompanied her health problems. Khalida expresses her deep gratitude to Transparent Hands and its compassionate donors, recognizing that their generosity has made a significant and positive impact on her life.
