Maliha Sajjad's Story

Maliha Sajjad, a 13-year-old girl from Lahore, was suffering from congenital deafness. Her hearing issue affected her ability to communicate with others, making it hard for her to engage in conversations. This led to isolation, as she often felt left out in social settings. Her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Maliha with hearing impairment. To allow her to hear and experience the sounds around her, the doctor advised a hearing aid. However, the cost of this device was beyond her family’s financial capacity.

Maliha lives in a two-room brick house with her six family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a driver and earns PKR 40,000 per month. This limited income barely covered their household expenses, and the idea of purchasing such a costly medical device seemed impossible for Maliha’s family. With hope in their hearts, Maliha’s family contacted Transparent and asked us for help. Upon learning of her condition, we promptly registered her case.

On 11th July 2024, Maliha’s hearing aid was fitted at Audio Medics, Lahore under supervision of Dr. Zumar Naseer, giving Malila new hope to live life fully.

Maliha was overwhelmed with happiness and said:

“I used to miss out on many opportunities due to my inability to hear. But you helped me in getting this hearing aid. I can hear now. It’s like I’m part of the world again. Thank you for your support.”

With her new hearing aid, Maliha’s life has changed. She can enjoy her life, engage with her friends, and communicate with her family without difficulty. She feels much more confident in social settings and her future is now filled with hope and opportunity.
