Memoona’s Spinal Condition Has Been Treated Now

Memoona Abbas's Story
Memoona Abbas, a 57-year-old woman from Sujawal, Sindh, was facing immense discomfort due to back pain for six years. Her condition made it difficult for her to stand, sit, and walk. She was unable to fulfill her responsibilities as a mother and wife. For a long time, she received symptomatic treatment but found temporary relief only. Worried about her condition, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a detailed medical evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc (PID) – C6-C7+ Compression of L5-S1. To ease her pain and discomfort, the doctor advised laminectomy, foraminotomy, and transpedicular fixation. However, her family couldn’t afford the surgery.
Memoona lives with her family at the house of her husband’s uncle. Her family consists of five members, including her husband and four children. Her husband is unwell and unable to provide for his family. One of her sons works as a shopkeeper and brings in just PKR 35,000 per month. This income is insignificant to cover their living expenses. Due to their financial hardships, they were unable to pay for Memoona’s surgery. During this time of despair, Memoona reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. After a thorough medical and financial evaluation, we registered her case.
On May 12, 2025, Memoona was admitted to Altamash General Hospital in Karachi. Her surgery took place on May 13, 2025. Dr. Farhad Ali expertly performed the procedures, which included laminectomy, foraminotomy, and transpedicular fixation. Following a smooth recovery and necessary post-operative care, Memoona was discharged in satisfactory condition on May 15, 2025.
Memoona expressed her heartfelt gratitude as follows:
“I can’t express the happiness I feel after the surgery. Living without pain has made me feel alive again, and I’m so grateful for your immense support. You’ve given me my life back, and I’m forever thankful for the joy you’ve brought into my world.”
Memoona is recovering well now, and she is extremely happy after receiving your support. Her family is also grateful to you for extending your support and enabling Memoona to overcome her spinal condition.
Your generosity truly changed her life.
