Motshi Has Found Relief After Cyst Surgery

Motshi Johnson's Story

Motshi Johnson, a 30-year-old woman from Lahore, faced a year-long struggle with severe pain in her genital area. Alongside the discomfort, she experienced the constant sensation of a painful lump, which made everyday tasks like walking, sitting, and managing household chores almost unbearable. In search of relief, Motshi visited a local hospital, where a thorough medical examination revealed that she had developed a Bartholin cyst. This condition occurs when a gland near the vaginal opening becomes blocked, resulting in a swollen, fluid-filled lump that causes intense discomfort. The doctor advised her to undergo Marsupialization —a procedure that would drain the cyst and relieve her symptoms permanently.

Although the surgery was necessary, the cost was far beyond what Motshi and her family could afford. She lives in a modest rented house with four family members. Her father, the family’s only source of income, works as an electrician and earns around PKR 35,000 per month. His earnings are barely enough to cover the household expenses, leaving no room for unexpected medical costs. On March 13, 2025, Motshi was admitted to Akram Medical Complex in Lahore. Dr. Asia Nasir skillfully performed the Marsupialization of cyst. The surgery was a success, and Motshi received proper post-operative care before being discharged the next day in stable condition.
