Muhammad Asif Successfully Underwent Knee Arthrodesis
Muhammad Asif's Story
Muhammad Asif, a 40-year-old resident of Sialkot, faced immense challenges after a road accident left him with a fractured right leg. He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors applied a plaster cast to heal the fracture. However, his pain and discomfort persisted, so he decided to consult another doctor. After conducting an X-ray and some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Asif with septic arthritis – a condition caused by an infection that spreads to the joint fluid and tissues. To address his worsening condition, the doctor recommended knee arthrodesis, also known as knee fusion, which is a procedure to alleviate the pain and stabilize the knee. However, Asif was unable to pay for his surgery.
Asif’s condition caused him significant pain, making it difficult to perform daily tasks. He lived in a rented house with his wife and two children. Asif worked as a daily wage laborer and earned only PKR 15,000 per month. His limited income barely covered the house rent, utility bills, and groceries, leaving no room for medical expenses. During this challenging time, Asif turned to Transparent Hands for assistance. Upon hearing Asif’s plight, we registered his case.
On November 15, 2024, Asif was admitted to the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of Differently Abled (PSRD) in Lahore. The surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Saleem on November 16, 2024. Asif remained under medical care for two days and was discharged in stable condition on November 18, 2024.
Asif shared his happiness as follows:
“My pain had become unbearable, and I thought I’d never find relief. You gave me hope and helped me regain my life. I am no longer experiencing pain and discomfort. I will forever be thankful for this kindness.”
Muhammad Asif’s surgery was a success, and he is now looking forward to living a healthy and happy life. The pain that once limited his every move has been alleviated, and he can now carry out his daily tasks without discomfort. Asif and his family are deeply thankful for your support. You allowed him to lead a pain-free life.
