Muhammad Babar Received an Artificial Leg
Muhammad Babar's Story
Muhammad Babar, a 46-year-old man from Pakpattan, lost his right leg. He was suffering from high-risk diabetes. The doctors had to amputate his right leg below the knee. Since then, Babar’s life has been marked with extreme challenges. Carrying out routine tasks and providing for his family became challenging for him. He consulted a doctor about his condition, who recommended a below-knee prosthesis, an artificial limb that is designed to mimic the appearance and function of a real leg. However, the cost of the prosthetic leg was simply beyond his financial reach.
After the amputation, Babar was unable to work. His son works but his insufficient monthly income barely covers their basic needs. The cost of the artificial leg was beyond their reach. Babar’s family turned to Transparent Hands for help during this challenging time. Understanding the critical nature of his situation we registered his case. Thanks to the support of our donors, Babar was able to acquire the artificial limb.
The day of hope arrived. On 26th June 2024, Babar’s below-knee prosthesis was fitted at Hope Rehabilitation Centre Lahore. Dr. Khalid Niaz keenly supervised the procedure. Babar’s heart filled with anticipation when he took the first step with his artificial leg.
Muhammad Babar shared his emotions as follows:
“Every day I struggled to walk and perform my daily tasks independently. I can’t believe that now I can stand and walk. I feel like a new person. I am deeply grateful for the help I received.”
The below-knee prosthesis will now facilitate Babar’s activities of daily living (ADLs) and allow him to walk independently. It has reduced his reliance on others and wiped out his feelings of isolation, which is positively impacting his mental well-being and overall satisfaction with life.
We are incredibly grateful to you as you made a huge impact on the life of Muhammad Babar Babar. Thank you for making a difference in his life and filling his home with joy.
