Romiasa Gull’s Journey to Hearing
Romaisa Gul's Story
Four-year-old Romiasa Gull from Rawalpindi faced a challenging journey due to her congenital hearing loss, which left her living in a world of silence. However, thanks to the intervention and support she received, her life has been transformed.
Romiasa’s parents noticed her unresponsiveness to sounds at an early age and sought medical consultations to understand the cause. After a thorough diagnosis, it was determined that she required cochlear implant surgery to restore her hearing. This surgery was crucial for her ability to communicate and learn, as it would enable her to experience the simple joy of hearing the world around her. However, financial constraints posed a significant obstacle for her family.
In their search for assistance, Romiasa’s family turned to Transparent Hands, an organization that helps individuals in need of medical treatment. Through the incredible generosity of compassionate donors, Romiasa was allowed to regain her sense of hearing.
Her journey began at Ali Medical Complex in Islamabad, where Dr. Jawwad skillfully performed the cochlear implant surgery on August 29, 2023. The implantation of the internal component marked a pivotal milestone in Romiasa’s hearing restoration, and she was discharged the following day.
After six weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was implanted, opening the doors to continued speech therapy sessions. These sessions played a vital role in helping Romiasa perceive and process sounds, enabling her to develop her language and communication skills.
With the implant in place, Romiasa now experiences the joy of actively engaging in conversations and participating in social gatherings. Her newfound ability to hear has had a profound impact on her life, allowing her to fully participate in the world around her.
The success of Romiasa’s cochlear implant surgery and her subsequent progress is a testament to the immeasurable contributions and unwavering support of the generous donors who made this life-transforming surgery financially feasible for Romiasa and her family.
