Seven-year-old Saira, a resident of Multan, faced a daunting battle with cataracts affecting both of her eyes. This debilitating condition, not only caused her discomfort but also profoundly impaired her vision, hindering her daily life. Determined to seek help, Saira’s parents wasted no time and consulted with an eye specialist. The recommended solution was a lens matter aspiration and IOL implantation, a surgical procedure that held the promise of restoring Saira’s vision and providing her with a brighter future. However, a heartbreaking dilemma awaited them, as their limited financial resources seemed insurmountable. It was then that Transparent Hands stepped in, registering Saira’s case and offering a ray of hope.

With the support of donors, Saira was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Teaching Hospital, Multan, where Dr. Hassan Raza, a skilled ophthalmologist, successfully performed the surgery on February 16, 2024. The delicate procedure involved the removal of cataracts and the implantation of intraocular lenses, aiming to restore Saira’s vision to its full potential. Following the surgery, Saira received one day of post-operative care before being discharged from the hospital.
