Saman Imtiaz’s Open-Heart Surgery was Successful

Saman Imtiaz, a 5-year-old girl from Sargodha, had been battling with breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Simple activities like running, walking, or even playing with other children left her gasping for breath. Her growth had been delayed, and her skin often turned blue due to a lack of oxygen. Deeply worried, her parents took her to a local hospital for a thorough check-up. After a series of diagnostic tests, the doctors diagnosed Saman with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF)—a complex combination of four congenital heart defects. The only way to restore her health was through open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the high cost of the procedure was completely out of reach for her family.

Saman lives in a small home in Sargodha with her parents and two siblings. Her father, the sole breadwinner, works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 25,000 per month. With this limited income, he struggles to provide food, shelter, and basic necessities for his family. To her family, affording such an expensive surgery seemed impossible. During this time of despair, Saman’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for help. After learning about her condition, we swiftly registered her case.

With your generous support, Saman was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan performed her open-heart surgery for TOF correction successfully on April 22, 2025. The procedure went smoothly, and she was closely monitored during her recovery. She was discharged in stable condition on April 29, 2025.

Saman’s father expressed his gratitude as follows:
