Samra Noreen Reclaims Her Independence

Samra Noreen 's Story

Fifteen years ago, Samra’s life took a tragic turn when a road accident resulted in the devastating loss of her leg. Since that fateful day, she has faced numerous challenges in her quest to maintain independence and mobility. Although initially equipped with a prosthetic leg, the passage of time has taken its toll, rendering it ineffective and leaving Samra immobile, depriving her of the ability to perform even the most basic tasks. Now, more than ever, Samra finds herself in desperate need of a new artificial leg—an essential tool that holds the promise of restoring her freedom and allowing her to reclaim a normal life.

In the aftermath of the traffic accident that occurred in Toba Tek Singh, Samra underwent an above-the-knee amputation, as her leg was severely crushed and deemed irreparable. In 2011, she obtained her first prosthetic leg; however, challenges persisted due to size discrepancies, making it difficult for her to find comfort and stability. Two years ago, with the assistance of Transparent Hands, Samra acquired another prosthetic leg that provided temporary relief. However, the wear and tear it endured over time necessitated a replacement, renewing her reliance on Transparent Hands for support.

Through the generous contributions of compassionate donors, she underwent a successful amputation procedure on November 7th, 2023, at the esteemed Hope Rehabilitation Centre under the expert supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz. The profound impact of such support on Samra’s life cannot be overstated, and she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Transparent Hands and all donors for their unwavering assistance throughout her journey. The provision of a new artificial leg signifies a significant turning point in Samra’s life—a turning point filled with renewed hope, resilience, and determination. With her freedom restored and a renewed sense of purpose, Samra is now inspired to face life’s challenges head-on, armed with the confidence to overcome any obstacle that comes her way.
