Four-year-old Sanam, a resident of Islamabad, had been suffering from congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Her parents realized she was not responding to their voices when she was a year old, and they were concerned. Her parents took her to the local hospital, where her tests were done. Upon consultation, she was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor advised her to undergo cochlear implant surgery. 

Unfortunately, the life-changing cochlear implant surgery that holds the key to restoring her hearing remains an unattainable dream for her loving parents, burdened by financial constraints. They reached out to Transparent Hands for financial support and we promised her to collect the funds for the surgery. 

Sanam was admitted to Ali Medical Complex, Islamabad, where Dr. Jawad skillfully performed the cochlear implant surgery on 22-06-2023. With precision and expertise, the doctor successfully implanted the internal component. 

A significant milestone was achieved as her hearing ability was successfully restored, marking a pivotal moment. After just one day in the hospital, she was discharged, brimming with hope and anticipation to grasp new words that could express her emotions. Through the surgery, her world transformed from a silent world into a symphony of sounds.

Following a few weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was also fixed. She also underwent a series of speech therapy sessions to develop her language and communication skills. With the diligent support of a speech therapist,  she found herself capable of responding to her parents’ voices, discovering a fresh avenue to convey affection and establish personal connections.
