Shahnaz Ijaz Won her Battle Against Breast Cancer
Shahnaz Ijaz's Story
Shahnaz Ijaz, a 65-year-old woman from Lahore, was suffering from intense pain due to a lump on her left breast. She went to an oncologist, where she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was heartbreaking for Shahnaz to hear the news of her breast cancer. She underwent a biopsy to confirm the presence of cancerous cells. A lumpectomy was performed to remove the lump from her breast. After the surgery, her doctor recommended chemotherapy as the next crucial step to overcome her metastatic carcinoma.
Furthermore, she was also diagnosed with HER2 positive. Her doctor prescribed a series of 18 Herceptin injections to impede the growth of the tumor. Shahnaz had already received 12 of these injections. She needed six more injections to complete her prescribed treatment. Shahnaz belonged to a financially struggling family. The cost of her treatment weighed heavily on her husband’s shoulders. For financial assistance, her family contacted Transparent Hands.
Understanding the impact of chemotherapy sessions to beat her metastatic carcinoma, we immediately processed her case. She was successfully admitted to Inmol Cancer Hospital Lahore to get life-saving chemotherapy sessions. With our support, she received two sessions on 22-11-2023 and 03-01-2024.
After receiving the sessions, Shahnaz has started to get back to her normal way of living. Shahnaz expressed her emotions as follows:
“I had lost all hope when the doctor shared the diagnosis with me. However, Transparent Hands provided me with a much-needed glimmer of hope. I am thankful for all the support and compassion from all donors and Transparent Hands. I feel blessed now.”
