Shumaila Abid, an 18-year-old resident of Layyah, had been experiencing shortness of breath, rapid breathing, fatigue, poor growth, and struggling with weight gain since birth. After a comprehensive evaluation, doctors diagnosed Shumaila with a ventricular septal defect (VSD), a condition that required urgent medical attention. The recommended course of treatment was a VSD closure surgery, which would give Shumaila a chance at a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Despite the seriousness of her condition, Shumaila remained hopeful, holding onto the belief that there were compassionate individuals out there who could help her in her time of need.

With the help of generous donors, she was admitted to the prestigious University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, where a team of skilled medical professionals, led by Dr. Salman, successfully performed the VSD closure surgery on February 29, 2024.
