Sumaira Sarwar's Story

Sumaira, a 20-year-old resident of Okara, experienced a tragic road accident ten years ago. A tractor badly crushed her right leg. She was taken to the emergency room at the nearby hospital for treatment. The doctors could not save her leg. They had to amputate her right leg below the knee. She had been living a difficult life without a leg since then. She needed an artificial leg to get back on her feet, but her financial situation won’t allow her to do so. She reached out to the Hope Rehabilitation Centre and Transparent Hands. Her artificial leg was fixed on 20-02-2023 under the supervision of Dr.Khalid. The moment she stood up with the support of her new leg, she felt a sense of freedom she never thought she would experience again.

With every step she took, Sumaira’s confidence grew, and she realized that her disability was not a barrier to living a fulfilling life. She is immensely grateful to the donors who made it possible for her to receive an artificial leg. Their generosity has changed her life and given her a new sense of purpose.
