Umaima Ismail’s TOF Repair was successful
Umaima Ismail's Story
Umaima Ismail, a two-year-old resident of Multan, was suffering from cyanosis and breathlessness on mild exertion since birth. Upon cardiac assessment, she was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). She was advised by her cardiologist to undergo open-heart surgery for total correction. For this purpose, she was admitted to The University Of Lahore Teaching Hospital, Lahore, where Dr. Faiz Rasool performed open-heart surgery for total correction of TOF on 14.12.2021. After three days of hospital stay, Umaima was discharged in satisfactory condition. The surgery was conducted with the support of the Pakistan Children Heart Foundation and other donors. A child who has had surgical repair of TOF, requires lifelong care, an optimized lifestyle, and examinations by a cardiologist. Luckily, now Umaima is beyond the initial stage of treatment and is looking forward to cherishing life to its fullest.
