You Changed Ajwa Bibi’s Life With Cochlear Implant Surgery
Ajwa Bibi's Story
Ajwa Bibi, a 3-year-old girl from Swat, had been living in a world of silence since birth. Upon medical consultation with a nearby doctor, she was diagnosed with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. After a comprehensive examination and evaluation, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery.
Ajwa’s parents were heartbroken to see their daughter struggling to hear the voices of the people around her. Ajwa couldn’t respond to voices like other kids of her age. Her family was already facing financial hardships and couldn’t pay for the expensive cochlear impact surgery with their meager income.
Ajwa’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and we registered her case.
The day her family had been looking forward to arrived, and she was admitted to Ali Medical Centre, Islamabad. On 27-05-2024, a skilled surgeon, Dr. Jawad Ahmed successfully fitted the internal component of the cochlear implant, igniting a newfound hope in Ajwa’s heart. On 28-05-2024, her family celebrated her discharge from the hospital to embrace a new chapter of life.
After six weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was carefully fitted, followed by regular speech therapy sessions. These sessions are crucial for improving her ability to hear and speak.
Ajwa’s father expressed his happiness as follows:
“Every day, I hoped for a miracle. Now, my daughter can finally explore the world like other kids. Everybody in my family is celebrating this change in my daughter’s life. I am grateful to Transparent Hands and all donors.”
This transformative journey serves as a testament to the power and impact of your donations. She is continuously learning new words and enjoying her speech therapy sessions. We are thankful to all donors who helped us in achieving this milestone.
