You Donations Restored Rehman Ali’s Hearing
Rehman Ali's Story
Rehman Ali, a three-year-old boy from the modest village of Mehar Dadu in Sindh, Pakistan, had been grappling with hearing loss since birth. For the first year of his life, his parents were unaware of his condition until they sought medical help. After undergoing diagnostic tests, the doctor advised that Rehman undergo a life-changing cochlear implant surgery.
However, the burden of the financial crisis weighed heavily on Rehman’s family. His father, a dedicated daily wager, earned a modest income of only 20,000 PKR per month, barely enough to support his wife and three other children. The cost of the crucial surgery was simply beyond their means, leaving the family in a state of despair.
Determined to find a solution, Rehman’s father reached out to Transparent Hands, a trusted organization committed to providing medical assistance to those in need. Through their support and the generosity of donors, Rehman’s case was registered, and he was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Karachi.
On May 8, 2024, under the skilled hands of Dr. Maqbool, the internal component of the cochlear implant was successfully installed. After just two days, Rehman was discharged from the hospital, embarking on his journey to regain his hearing. In the weeks that followed, the external component was also fixed, and Rehman began a series of life-changing speech therapy sessions.
Today, Rehman’s world is filled with the sounds he had been missing for so long. His laughter and the ability to communicate with his family have brought immeasurable joy to his loved ones. This transformative experience has not only restored Rehman’s hearing but has also reignited hope within his family, who are now empowered to embrace a brighter future.
The compassion and support of Transparent Hands and its donors have made all the difference in Rehman’s life, proving that with collective generosity, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome
