You Empowered Abuzar with Cochlear Implant Surgery

Muhammad Abuzar's Story

Muhammad Abuzar, a 3-year-old boy from Bahawalnagar, was unable to hear the sounds around him since birth. Abuzar had never heard his parents’ and siblings’ voices and faced difficulty communicating even about his basic needs. Worried about his condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a series of tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Abuzar with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. To treat this issue, his doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was beyond his family’s reach.

Abuzar lived in a modest home with his four family members. His father, the sole provider for the family, worked as a police employee and made just PKR 60,000 per month. This income was just enough to cover their utility bills, food, and other living expenses. Abuzar’s life-changing surgery was expensive and they were unable to pay for it. They dreamed of a day when their son could actively communicate with his friends and fully participate in life’s beautiful moments. In their search for a solution, they finally found Transparent Hands and asked for help.

On February 5, 2025, Abuzar was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Imran Saeed successfully placed the internal component of the cochlear implant device. Abuzar remained under observation for a day. On February 6, 2025, he was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.

Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear device was installed for proper functioning. To fully navigate the world of sounds, he will start receiving speech therapy sessions.
