You Enabled Muhammad Talha to Hear His Loved Ones

Muhammad Talha's Story

Muhammad Talha, a 2-year-old boy from Khairpur, Sindh, had been struggling to hear since birth. His parents noticed his hearing impairment when he was one year old. He wasn’t responding to sounds. His parents received a consultation from a doctor, who ran some medical tests and diagnosed Talha with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery to enable him to hear his parents’ comforting voices and the sounds around him. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery weighed heavily on Talha’s family.

For Talha’s parents, giving him the gift of hearing was their biggest wish but they couldn’t afford it. The family lives in a small brick house. Talha’s father is a government employee with a meager monthly income. After struggling for a while, Talha’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.

On 25th July 2024, Talha was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat, where Dr. Maqbool Ahmed performed his cochlear implant surgery on 26th July 2024. The internal component of the cochlear implant was carefully inserted, giving Talha and his parents new hope and courage.
Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. With regular follow-ups and speech therapy sessions, Talha began to show signs of improvement. Every little sound he responded to was a victory.
