Horain Zainab's Story

Horain Zainab, a two-year-old girl from DG Khan, Punjab, had been suffering from hearing loss since birth. Her parents noticed that she did not respond to sounds. They took her to the doctor, who conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Horain with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s means.

Horain’s father is an employee in the police department. He is the sole breadwinner for a family of four, earning approximately PKR 60,000 per month. The family resides in a rented 2-Marla house with only two rooms. Unfortunately, Horain’s father’s income is insufficient to cover the expenses of her surgery. As time passed, Horain’s family started to despair. During that time, Horain’s case was referred to Transparent Hands. After processing and verifying her case, we arranged the Cochlear implant surgery with your support.

On March 24, 2025, Horain Zainab underwent cochlear implant surgery at Evercare Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Imran Saeed expertly inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant. Horain received post-operative care and was discharged in stable condition on March 25, 2025.

Six weeks later, the external part of the cochlear implant was successfully installed to ensure proper functioning. Horain has now begun her speech therapy sessions. She is gradually learning to recognize sounds and improve her communication skills.

After the surgery, Horain’s family expressed their happiness as follows:
