Hafsa Noor's Story

In the town of Swabi, a little ray of sunshine named Hafsa Noor radiated hope and resilience. At the tender age of two,  Hafsa faced the challenge of sensorineural hearing loss, a condition that posed barriers in her path to experiencing the beautiful world of sound. Determined to help her overcome this obstacle, Hafsa’s family sought the expert care of the Institute of Medical Sciences in Gambat.

On the 8th of December 2023, Hafsa was admitted to the hospital, marking the beginning of a transformative journey. Under the skilled hands of the esteemed surgeon, Dr. Maqbool Ahmed, Hafsa underwent a groundbreaking right-sided cochlear implant surgery. The procedure utilized a state-of-the-art cochlear implant, carefully designed to restore hearing function in individuals with sensorineural hearing loss.

The surgery proved to be a resounding success, paving the way for Hafsa to embark on a new chapter of her life filled with the symphony of sound. With attentive care and a brief period of recovery, Hafsa’s condition improved significantly. On the 9th of December 2023, with hearts overflowing with gratitude, Hafsa and her family celebrated her discharge from the hospital, embracing a future brimming with endless possibilities and newfound auditory delights.

While the surgery had given Hafsa the gift of hearing, her journey towards complete restoration was just beginning. After four weeks, an external component of the cochlear implant was installed, further enhancing Hafsa’s ability to perceive sound. To maximize the benefits of the implant and foster effective communication skills, Hafsa embarked on a comprehensive speech therapy program. Led by dedicated professionals, her speech therapy sessions were tailored to address her unique needs, unlocking her potential for effective communication.
