Muhammad Idrees's Story

Idrees, a 63-year-old resident of Lahore, had been enduring a difficult time due to his diabetes. Unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse when he developed inflammation in his foot—a consequence of the disease. Worried about his deteriorating condition, Idrees sought medical help at the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with diabetic foot, a condition caused by diabetes-related poor blood circulation and nerve damage.

Regrettably, Idrees’ situation didn’t improve. The infection in his foot spread rapidly, becoming a grave concern. To halt the infection’s progression, the doctors faced a tough decision—to amputate two of Idrees’ fingers. Despite their best efforts, the infection persisted, leaving the doctors with no alternative but to amputate his leg below the knee.

Devastated by the loss of his leg, Idrees found himself in a desperate financial predicament, unable to navigate his way back to a normal life. Seeking assistance, he reached out to Transparent Hands, and we promptly registered his case, aiming to gather the necessary funds.

Thanks to the generous donations received, Idrees was referred to Hope Rehabilitation Centre, where the proficient Dr. Khalid Niaz oversaw his procedure. On March 29, 2024, a skilled medical team worked tirelessly to fix an artificial leg according to the size of Idrees. The prosthetic limb became more than a physical aid—it symbolized hope, resilience, and the chance for Idrees to reclaim his rightful place in the world. Transparent Hands played a pivotal role in turning his life around, providing him the means to regain mobility and self-confidence.

This transformative journey, made possible through the support of Transparent Hands, donors, and the dedicated medical professionals at Hope Rehabilitation Centre, allowed Idrees to face the future with renewed determination, despite the challenges he had faced. With the aid of his new artificial leg, Idrees regained the ability to walk, granting him a newfound sense of independence and freedom.
