Shehryar Ahmed 's Story

Five-year-old Shehryar, a resident of Swat, had congenital sensorineural hearing loss. When he was one year old, his parents recognized something was wrong since he wasn’t reacting to their voices. His parents took him to the nearest hospital, where he underwent testing. He was diagnosed with sensorineural deafness after a consultation. He was advised by the doctor to have cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, his family was not in a stable financial situation to pay for the surgery. He was admitted to Ali Medical Complex, Islamabad, where Dr. Jawad performed his operation on 20-06-2023. The doctor fixed the internal component of the cochlear implant, and the operation was successful. He was discharged after one day in the hospital. However, he had a long way to go before his hearing was fully restored. After a few weeks, he returned to the hospital, where the external component of his cochlear implant was fixed, allowing him to enter a world of sound.   

To enhance his language and communication skills, the doctor recommended that he needed speech therapy sessions to gradually grasp the intricacies and elegance of language, fostering a deeper understanding of speech.
