Sirajan Bibi, a 64-year-old widow from Karachi, had been suffering from persistent upper right abdominal pain, nausea, and frequent bouts of vomiting. These symptoms had become an unavoidable part of her daily life, often leaving her weak and bedridden. Concerned about her deteriorating health, she consulted a specialist. After undergoing diagnostic tests and an ultrasound scan, she was diagnosed with Cholelithiasis—gallstones causing significant discomfort and pain. The doctor advised a laparoscopic cholecystectomy to remove her gallbladder and provide lasting relief. However, the financial burden of the surgery was far beyond her family’s means.

Sirajan lived in a small rented house with her five children. Since losing her husband years ago, she has been facing the hardships of life alone. Her son, the sole provider for the family, worked as a daily wage laborer, earning only PKR 30,000 per month. With this limited income, managing household expenses was already a challenge, leaving no room for costly procedures. As her condition worsened, Sirajan and her family felt helpless, unable to afford the much-needed treatment. On January 14, 2025, Sirajan was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. Dr. Attaullah performed a successful laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The surgery was carried out with care, effectively removing the gallbladder containing stones that had caused her years of suffering. After receiving post-operative care, Sirajan was discharged in a stable condition on January 15, 2025.
