You Restored Arslan’s Mobility
Arslan Hizar Hayat's Story
Arslan, a 24-year-old man from Lahore, faced a challenging moment in his life. He had gangrene on his left leg which led the doctors to amputate the leg at the through-knee level. After losing his life leg, he became dependent on others to carry out even minor tasks. Simple activities like walking, standing, and getting in and out of bed became significantly challenging. His doctor recommended a through-knee prosthesis to restore his ability to walk. However, the cost of this artificial leg was beyond his financial reach.
Arslan lived in a small rented house with his five family members. His father passed away a few years ago and his mother is the sole breadwinner in the family. She works as a seamstress and earns just PKR 20,000 per month. The loss of his leg was not just physically overwhelming for Arslan; it also weighed heavily on him emotionally and financially. Due to his disability, Arslan was unable to work and could not afford the much-needed prosthetic leg. Faced with these challenges, Arslan turned to Transparent Hands for help. Recognizing the critical nature of his situation, we registered his case.
On 1st July 2024, Arslan’s through-knee prosthesis was fitted at Hope Rehabilitation Centre in Lahore. This was done under the supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz. Arslan was filled with relief and gratitude when he received the artificial leg.
Arslan was overwhelmed with happiness and said:
“I never thought I would be able to walk again. But with this artificial leg, I’m not just walking—I’m living again. My family and I are grateful for the help we received.”
Today, Arslan is standing tall once again. The prosthesis has given him back his independence, allowing him to move freely and return to work. Although his journey was not easy, his determination and your support have brought him a new lease on life.
Arslan and his family are thankful for your generosity. He can now work to provide for his family and face the future with new hope and determination.
