You Saved Maryam Zahoor Delicate Heart
Maryam Zahoor's Story
At just 3 years old, Maryam Zahoor was bravely fighting an uphill battle against numerous health challenges. Diagnosed with Down’s syndrome, Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), and Complete Atrioventricular Canal Defect (CAVC), Maryam’s condition was critical. The visible signs of her struggle were heartbreaking – a blue or purple tint to her lips, skin, and nails, a condition known as cyanosis, indicating a lack of oxygen.
Despite the devastating news, Maryam’s parents refused to give up hope. They tirelessly sought medical advice and were informed that Maryam required life-saving surgery – a BT Shunt procedure. However, the immense financial burden of the operation and subsequent care was overwhelming for the family.
Feeling hopeless, they reached out to Transparent Hands, a charitable organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to those in need. With the support of generous donors, Maryam was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore, where she underwent the successful BT Shunt surgery performed by Dr. Asim Khan on April 23, 2024. After just five days, Maryam was discharged from the hospital, and on the road to recovery.
This incredible outcome was made possible through the collective efforts of the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation and the compassionate donors who selflessly contributed to Maryam’s care. The family expressed immense gratitude, stating that the kindness and generosity of these remarkable individuals had not only transformed Maryam’s life but had also instilled hope and provided support to her entire family during this challenging period.
The success story of Maryam Zahoor serves as a shining example of the power of human compassion. By coming together to support those in need, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable children like Maryam, offering them a brighter and healthier future free from the hardships they once endured.
