Seerat Fatima's Story

Seerat Fatima, a 4-year-old girl from Skardu, had been struggling with breathlessness since early childhood. While children of her age played and enjoyed carefree moments, Seerat often became breathless even after mild physical activity. Basic actions such as walking, climbing, or playing for a few minutes would leave her exhausted and uncomfortable. Along with constant chest discomfort, she also suffered from weakness and difficulty gaining weight, which affected her growth and overall well-being. Watching their little daughter struggle every day filled her parents’ hearts with deep concern and helplessness. In search of treatment, they took Seerat to a local hospital.

After detailed examinations and cardiac investigations, the doctors diagnosed her with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), RCC Prolapse, and Left Ventricular Volume Overload (LVVO), which are serious heart conditions that disrupt the normal circulation of blood throughout the body. To prevent further complications and improve her health, the doctors advised VSD closure through open-heart surgery.

Seerat belongs to a humble family living in a small house in Skardu with her parents and three siblings. Her father works as a security guard and earns approximately PKR 60,000 per month. Although he works hard to support his family, most of his income is consumed by daily household expenses, groceries, and utility bills. Arranging money for her expensive cardiac surgery was impossible for the family. As Seerat’s condition gradually worsened, her parents feared that delaying treatment could seriously endanger her life. With hope and desperation, they turned to Transparent Hands for support.

After reviewing Seerat’s medical reports and assessing the family’s financial situation, Transparent Hands registered her case for treatment.

On May 4, 2026, Seerat was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. The following day, her open-heart surgery for VSD closure was successfully performed by Dr. Asim Khan. The procedure corrected the defects affecting her heart and improved the blood flow within her body. She was discharged from the hospital in stable condition on May 9, 2026.

Seerat’s parents expressed their happiness as follows:

“Seeing our daughter struggle to breathe every day was heartbreaking for us. We knew she needed surgery, but we could never afford such costly treatment. Today, after her successful operation, we finally feel hopeful about her future. Your support gave our daughter a chance to have a healthier life, and we will always remain thankful for this kindness.”

Seerat is now recovering steadily and looking forward to a healthier childhood free from the pain and limitations caused by her heart condition. Her family is grateful to you and the PCHF for becoming a source of hope and helping save their daughter’s life.
