Batool Rasti's Story
Batool Rasti, a 9-year-old girl from Gujranwala, had been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Batool couldn’t gain weight properly like other kids of her age. Simple activities like walking or playing left her gasping for air. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. The doctor conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Batool with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and Left Ventricular Volume Overload (LVVO). To repair her heart defect, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for VSD closure. Unfortunately, the surgical cost was overwhelming for Batool’s family.
Living in a modest brick house, Batool’s family struggled to make ends meet. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a cameraman. His insufficient monthly income covered their basic needs only. The thought of affording such an expensive procedure was beyond his reach. Batool’s parents were heartbroken, fearing they would lose their beloved daughter. During this time of need, Batool’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Moved by their plea, we registered her case.
On 2nd July 2024, Batool was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital Lahore. The surgery was scheduled for 3rd July 2024. Dr. Asim Khan skillfully managed the complex procedure and repaired the defects in her heart. Batool was hospitalized for five days and received post-operative care.
After recovery, she was discharged in satisfactory condition on 7th July 2024.
Batool’s parents said with joy:
“When we saw her smiling and breathing without struggle, it felt like a miracle. We are so thankful to everyone who helped us during this difficult time. We can’t forget your generosity.”
Now, Batool’s life is full of possibilities. She plays and enjoys her childhood without the fear that once overshadowed her every day.
Her parents are grateful to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for saving her life. Your generosity has changed her life and freed her from the limitations caused by her heart defect.
