You Supported Zoha’s Journey to the World of Sounds

Zoha Fatima's Story

Zoha Fatima, a 3-year-old girl from Faisalabad, had spent her life in silence. She was unable to hear the voices of her loved ones or the cheerful sounds of the world around her. She faced challenges in communicating and participating in activities that other children enjoy. Her parents noticed her unresponsiveness to sounds and became deeply concerned about her future. Determined to help their daughter, they took Zoha to a local hospital for a consultation. The doctor conducted a thorough examination and diagnosed Zoha with bilateral congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended a cochlear implant surgery, but its cost was overwhelming for her family.

Zoha lived in a small two-room house with her seven family members. Zoha’s father worked as a police employee, earning a modest income that just covered their household’s basic needs, including utility bills, food, and other living expenses. Affording the expensive cochlear implant surgery seemed impossible. A well-wisher informed Zoha’s family about Transparent Hands. Filled with hope in their hearts, they reached out for assistance. Transparent Hands registered Zoha’s case, and with the support of donors, we arranged cochlear implant surgery for Zoha at a reputable hospital on our panel.

On December 24, 2024, Zoha was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Lahore, where her surgery was performed by Dr. Imran Saeed. The internal component of the cochlear implant was successfully inserted. After receiving essential post-operative care, Zoha was discharged in satisfactory condition on December 25, 2024.

The external component of the cochlear implant will be fitted after six weeks, followed by speech therapy sessions.

Her parents were overwhelmed with joy. Zoha’s family expressed their heartfelt gratitude as follows:
