Your Support Enabled Eshal’s Journey to Hearing
Eshal D/O Bilal's Story
Three-year-old Eshal, a resident of Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has known a world of silence since birth due to congenital hearing loss. Her family noticed her lack of response to sounds, prompting medical evaluations that confirmed this lifelong challenge. For Eshal, the possibility of hearing rested upon cochlear implant surgery. Yet, financial constraints created a barrier, preventing her family from accessing this crucial treatment.
Amid this challenge, Eshal’s case found its way to Transparent Hands. Through the incredible generosity of donors, a ray of hope emerged for her. This support made it possible for Eshal to undergo life-altering cochlear implant surgery at Ali Medical Complex, Islamabad, on 10 October 2023. Dr. Jawwad Ahmed expertly performed the surgery, installing the internal implant. Her discharge the following day marked the beginning of her journey towards hearing restoration.
Eshal embarked on a gradual path towards sound. With the scheduled installation of the external implant in six weeks, alongside planned speech therapy sessions, she anticipates reintroduction to the world of sound and language.
Guided by Dr. Jawwad Ahmed’s expertise and the promise of an external implant along with subsequent speech therapy, Eshal stands on the verge of rediscovering the joy of sound. The financial accessibility of this life-altering surgery, made possible by the compassion of donors, signifies a transformative moment in Eshal’s life—a step towards embracing a world filled with
the beauty of sound, offering renewed avenues for connection, communication, and learning.
