Zakir’s Chronic Anal Fissure Was Treated Successfully

Zakir Ali, a 27-year-old man from Karachi, had been experiencing unbearable pain and discomfort. He suffered from severe pain during bowel movements, accompanied by bleeding and persistent perianal discharge, making even the simplest activities difficult. Hoping to find relief, Zakir visited a local hospital where a thorough medical examination was conducted. The doctor diagnosed him with a chronic anal fissure. The physician explained that the only effective treatment to end his suffering was fissurectomy with lateral sphincterotomy surgery. However, his family was unable to pay for his surgery.

Living in a modest rented home with his family, Zakir’s monthly income as a laborer barely reached PKR 20,000. This income was insufficient to cover the cost of the surgery, along with daily living expenses. On February 24, 2025, Zakir was admitted to a Murshid hospital in Karachi, where Dr. Khalid Shafiq skillfully performed the surgery. It went smoothly, and Zakir received attentive post-operative care and medications. On February 25, 2025, he was discharged in stable condition from the hospital.
