Ayesha Munawar, 9 years old, a resident of Multan suffers from cataract in the right eye. Cataracts are the clouding of the lens of your eye. Most cataracts develop slowly over time, causing symptoms such as blurry vision and uneasiness in the eye. To treat this condition, the doctor has advised her to undergo LMA + Vitrectomy and IOL (Intraocular Lens) surgery of the right eye. A vitrectomy is a type of eye surgery to treat various problems with the retina and vitreous. During the surgery, the surgeon removes the vitreous and replaces it with an intraocular lens (IOL).

Now this medical procedure is very expensive and affording this surgery is out of question for Ayesha’s father. Ayesha’s father is a laborer and hardly manages to earn PKR. 15,000. Per month. With this measly income, he hardly makes both ends meet. He cannot afford to pay for his daughter’s eye surgery. His father told us:

Ayesha Munawar, a six-year-old resident of Multan, had been suffering from blurry vision in her right eye since she was born. Upon diagnosis, Ayesha’s parents were told that she suffers from a congenital Cataract. She was advised to undergo a right eye LMA, Ant. vitrectomy and IOL insertion. For this purpose, Ayesha was sent to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust. She got her procedure successfully done by Dr. Asif Manzoor on 23-12-2021.
