Tahreem Bakht Raj is a 46-year-old woman from Karachi. For the past year, she has been suffering from heavy bleeding and pain during her periods. After visiting a doctor, she was diagnosed with a condition called Adenomyosis. The doctor has advised her to undergo a surgery called Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy (TAH + BSO) to relieve her pain and stop the bleeding.

Tahreem’s illness has made her very weak. She feels tired all the time and finds it difficult to complete her daily household chores. Cooking, cleaning, and even walking around the house have become painful for her. She cannot care for her children properly, especially since all three of her sons have mental disabilities and need constant attention.

If Tahreem does not receive the surgery, her condition will continue to worsen. She may suffer from severe weakness and pain, and even develop other health complications like anemia and enlargement of the uterus.

Tahreem lives in a small rented house with her husband and sons. They struggle to pay PKR 4000 for rent and PKR 7000 for utility bills. Her husband works as a laborer and earns only PKR 18,000 per month. He is the only one earning in the family. With this limited income, they are unable to afford her surgery. Their hardships don’t end there. Tahreem and her husband are the primary caregivers for their three sons, all of whom are mentally challenged and need constant care and supervision. With such overwhelming responsibilities and financial pressure, affording this crucial surgery is simply impossible for them.

Tahreem said in despair:

“I try to stay strong for my family, but this illness is draining me every day. I just want to be healthy again for my children and my husband. Kindly help me receive this surgery and regain my strength.”
