Nine years old, Aliza Fatima, a resident of Lahore has been suffering from congenital dyspnea. After her parents noticed Aliza having difficulty breathing, they took her for consultation. Upon consultation, she was diagnosed with chest infection. Initially the doctor gave her symptomatic treatment but as time passed, her breathing problems grew and the medicines stopped working. They took her to different public hospitals. At one hospital, after running a few tests, Aliza was diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect.  The doctors advised her to undergo an ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) closure after open heart surgery. 

Aliza lives in a joint family system and her father is the only one who is  financially supporting the entire family. Her father’s monthly income is merely enough to support the family of five members. He cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. A friend told Aliza’s father about Transparent Hands and they visited us.  It was sad to see such a bright girl being unable to live her childhood to the fullest.

“I want my daughter to play like other kids. This disease has stolen her childhood away from her. I see her short of breath even after a small run and then she is not able to continue playing. ” says Aliza’s Mother.
