For the last three years, Khadam Hussain has been suffering from B-Cell Lymphoma. Simply described, Lymphomas are “blood cancers” in the lymph nodes causing them to enlarge. The news of Khadam’s cancer played havoc with everyone’s emotions. It changed the entire course of Khadam Hussain’s life.
In order to treat this condition, Khadam Hussain has to undergo chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is a drug treatment that uses chemical agents to kill fast-growing cells in your body. Chemotherapy is most often used to treat cancers, since cancer cells grow and multiply much more quickly than most cells in the body. The doctor advised a total of eight cycles of Chemotherapy. He got five of these cycles from private hospitals. Now, Khadam needs our help with the rest of the three cycles.
Unfortunately, Khadam Hussain does not have the means to arrange for his chemotherapy. At first, he was having his chemotherapy sessions at a private hospital but now, he has exhausted his resources after mere three sessions. He works as a la
borer and hardly earns PKR 15,000 per month. With a family of seven to raise, it has become impossible for him to make ends meet. Khadam’s Hussain’s daughter told us:
“My father has done nothing for himself his entire life. He slaved away his entire life for us – his kids. When we got to know about my father’s life-threatening illness, the entire family was sad and distressed for days. It has been years and we are still struggling to come to terms with it. Our minds are permanently occupied with fear and worry. We have nowhere to go.”

Khadam Hussain's Story
Khadam Hussain, aged 47 years, experienced unexplained drastic weight loss and frequent episodes of fever. There were multiple swellings on his body as well. He visited many hospitals despite his limited budget and was ultimately diagnosed with B cell lymphoma. It is a kind of blood cancer that prevails in lymph nodes. Initially, for five months, he was treated in MINAR Hospital Multan. However since he could not bear the expenses anymore, he got himself registered with the Transparent Hands team. With our support, he underwent two chemotherapy sessions at Life Hospital on 28.05.2021 and 21.06.2021 under the supervision of Dr. Imtiaz Randhawa. During the chemotherapy sessions, his hospital stay was two days. Khadam is optimistic regarding his treatment and is grateful to the TH team for their support.
