Liaqat Ali 's Story

Liaqat Ali, aged 53, hails from the dingy street of Rawalpindi and suffers from a combination of bladder disorders. Before we delve into the reasons as to why Liaqat Ali has not been able to afford treatment for his illness yet, let us brief you a bit about the illnesses he is suffering from first. Liaqat is suffering from bladder stones, which are formed because of urine blockage. In Liaqat’s case, this obstruction arises because of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This condition refers to prostate enlargement that simply defined, is a non-cancerous increase in the size of the prostate gland. As you can imagine, that is a lot of pain Liaqat Ali is going through right now. However, the good news is that there exists a treatment for Liaqat Ali’s painful condition. Litholapaxy

Litholapaxy is an endoscopic treatment in which bladder stones are fragmented with the help of the telescopic device. The fragmented stone pieces can then be removed via suction. This surgical intervention takes care of Liaqat Ali’s bladder stone problems. For treating the BPH, doctors have prescribed him a treatment known as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). As you can guess, these procedures are quite effective but costly. And it is the latter aspect which is not allowing Liaqat Ali to undergo these treatments.

You see, Liaqat’s family is going through a period of the financial crisis. He is not able to earn anything because of his condition. The house is managed courtesy of whatever Liaqat’s sons earn. And it is never more than a labourer’s basic wage! Liaqat summarizes how things stand right now quite aptly:

“Even 18 months of pure agony and discomfort have not rendered me insensitive to the financial plight my courageous sons are fighting. We tried our luck with the government hospitals, but not to be. And that was it for me. I cannot ask my sons to pull some magic out of their pockets, no, that would be just unfair on them. Instead, my six-membered family prays in the dingy corners of our rented house collectively for a miracle that seems far from likely”

Your donation can change how Liaqat Ali is thinking about life right now. It is your help which Liaqat Ali is comparing with a miracle. And wasting any more time is just not helping Liaqat Ali!
