Lubna Bibi, a 32-year-old resident of Hyderabad, has been enduring severe pain and swelling in her abdominal region for the past three years. She went for a consultation and got symptomatic treatment but it did not help her. Upon consulting the doctor again, and after going through some tests and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed Lubna bibi with an Incisional Hernia – a protrusion of tissue that occurs at the site of a healed surgical scar. This form of hernia makes up about 15% of all abdominal hernias. The doctor advised her to undergo Mesh repair surgery. It is a surgical technique for treating a hernia. A specialized woven synthetic material provides support at the surgical site both to fix the issue and prevent recurrence of the problem.
