Muhammad Afzal's Story

Muhammad Afzal , aged 50 years, a laborer from Mandi Bahauddin, fell from a building while working 7 years ago. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent an emergency surgery. He has been experiencing pain in the lumbar area for the past 6 months now. He went to the doctors, and after the medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with L4-L5 Stenosis and L5-S1 Spondylothesis. The doctor has advised him to undergo a Posterior Decompression and Fixation of L5-S1. Unfortunately his wife, who works as a domestic helper is the sole breadwinner of the family. She earns PKR. 2000 per month. In this amount she can hardly support her house and provide for their four children. She has to run the house as well. Muhammad Afzal narrates his story in the following words:

“I haven’t felt so helpless in my life. When I see my wife working hard and my children yearning for basic things- my heart shatters into a million pieces. I can not do anything but helplessly see the days pass by. Each day we suffer individually and together as a family too. I wish, hope and pray that this misery ends sooner.”

Muhammad Afzal's Story

Muhammad Afzal, aged 50 years, tripped and fell while working on a construction site. This incident took place around 7 years ago. After the accident, he was taken to a local hospital where his spine injury was treated. However, his pain worsened with time and he developed lower backache with sensory symptoms around 6 months ago. On detailed medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with L4-L5 stenosis and L5-L1 spondylosis. The neurosurgeon advised posterior decompression and transpedicular fixation at L5-S1 region for him. Therefore, Afzal was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital and his surgery was performed by Dr. Abrar on 06.07.2021. He stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Afzal is slowly recovering from his major surgery.
