Muhammad Ali's Story

Muhammad Ali is a one year old baby who developed constipation and abdominal distension when he was 7 months old. His parents took him to the doctor and multiple tests were conducted to identify the cause of his intestinal obstruction. After his work up, the doctors decided to perform a laparotomy. It was found that Ali was suffering from ileocolic intussusception. In this condition, the ileum prolapses through the ileo-caecal valve into the colon. To manage this condition, the doctors performed a resection of the affected part of intestine and made an ileostomy stoma.

Now, his condition is stable and upon a recent visit to the hospital, an ileostomy reversal surgery has been advised for him. This surgery would restore Ali’s normal bowel movements.

However, Ali’s father works as a labourer and earns only 25,000 PKR per month. Seven members of the family including his parents, wife and children are entirely dependent on his earnings. In these circumstances, paying for a major surgery like this one is completely out of question for his father.

“I feel like I am not able to take care of my son as I am not able to provide for his treatment. This thought greatly depresses me. I pray to God to help me. I wish with all my heart that my son gets the best treatment possible and that he does not have to visit a hospital again.”– says Ali’s father

Muhammad Ali and his father visited our office and got him registered with our organization after they came to know about it from a relative. Since, no local hospital has facilitated them, our organization is their last  hope. Your financial donation matters more than you think. You could bring an end to this family’s trial. Therefore, please do consider making a generous donation for Muhammad Ali’s ileostomy reversal surgery.

Muhammad Ali's Story

Muhammad Ali, aged 1 year, was unable to pass stool at the age of seven months. When his parents took him to the doctor, they performed a laparotomy for his intestinal obstruction. He was diagnosed with an ileocolic intussusception and an ileostomy stoma was made. This procedure was performed in a local hospital. However, later, Ali needed an ileostomy reversal surgery and his family was not facilitated by any of the local hospitals again.

Therefore, they contacted the TH team and got him registered. Ali’s exploratory laparotomy was done in Akram Medical Complex on 4th June 2021 by Dr. M. Bilal Mirza. He was found to have massive intestinal dilatation along with adhesions. Consequently, his adhenolysis was performed and it was found that the stoma could not be reversed or closed. So, Ali’s stoma revision was performed which is to be closed in a subsequent surgery. His hospital stay was four days and he was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Ali’s parents are grateful because his symptoms have improved and he is waiting for the final surgery now.
