Nosheen Shehbaz's Story

Nosheen Shehbaz, aged 30, is a resident of Lahore. Since childhood she has been experiencing palpitations and difficulty in breathing. A recent medical assessment has  diagnosed her with Rheumatic heart disease. It is categorized as an inflammatory disease that is initiated with the onset of Rheumatic fever. It might leave the heart valves inflamed and scarred over time, resulting in narrowing or leaking of the heart valves. That is the case of Nosheen who has been diagnosed with Mitral Stenosis and has been advised to undergo Mitral valve replacement (MVR). MVR  is a surgical procedure where diseased mitral valve of the patient’s heart is replaced by a mechanical valve. Nosheen briefly shares her journey of life coupled with the illness in the following words:

“Ever since I was a child I have been suffering from a sick heart. I used to see kids play and run but I would either get short of breath or experience exhaustion. Many times I wasn’t even allowed to play outside. So, I would sit in the window and cry seeing everyone play. When I grew up and got married, I had new challenges awaiting me. With a number of complications, God gave me two beautiful sons via C-section. But each time my life was in jeopardy. Now I am failing to perform day to day tasks. In order to rid myself of this disease I have been advised surgery.  My husband is a driver and earns PKR. 20,000 per month. Our family of four is residing in a rented house so my surgery is out of the question. Now that I have been connected with Transparent Hands I see a ray of hope.”

After a successful MVR, ongoing follow-ups with the healthcare provider are a requisite. Nosheen Shehbaz awaits your donations to undergo the first step towards an improved life. Now that she has been connected with Transparent Hands, donate generously to assist Nosheen Shehbaz in undergoing MVR so she can materialize her dream of leading a healthy life with her family.
