Donate for Rayan’s Cochlear Implant
Muhammad Rayan Asim's Story
As we took his pictures for this campaign, Rayan stood almost clueless and stared at our faces. Later, he only responded to his mother’s hand gestures and cues. Upon witnessing his helplessness, we were reduced to tears. We want to get him healthy and better in no time. Therefore, we request you to donate for Rayan’s cochlear implant and give him the ability to hear.
Ever since Rayan was born, he has been unable to hear and speak. After consultation, thorough testing and investigation, he advised Rayan’s parents to implant a hearing aid. Unfortunately, the hearing aid did not prove to be very effective. Therefore, the doctor has advised Rayan to undergo cochlear implant surgery. A unilateral cochlear implant surgery will give Rayan a profound sense of hearing. Without the surgery, Rayan’s hearing will forever be compromised. Rayan’s father told us:
“Rayan was a breath of fresh air in our house. When he was little, all we wanted to do was talk to him and listen to his little words forever. Unfortunately, we could not witness that joy because he never spoke a word. There is nothing I want from the world other than for my child to be able to speak and hear us.”
Rayan’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of his cochlear implant. His father is the sole earner of the family. Moreover, he works as a Cargo Scanner and hardly earns PKR 30,000 per month. With five family members to feed every month, he is in no position to afford his son’s surgery. Therefore, he has requested Transparent Hands for urgent help. We wish to help Rayan in every way we can. Now, all we need is your earnest donations. Donate for Rayan’s cochlear implant and give this kid a chance to hear the sounds of life.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Muhammad Rayan Asim's Story
Muhammad Rayan Asim, aged 3.8 years, suffered from congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The ENT specialist who examined him advised a cochlear implant for him. Rayan was, therefore, referred to Patel Hospital where a cochlear implant was installed in his right ear under the supervision of Dr. Nabeel Humayun on 9.06.2021. However this was not the end of his procedure. He was to visit soon for the placement of the external component of the device. For this purpose he visited Patel Hospital again on 15.08.2021 where the external component of the device was placed. He was discharged the same day. Rayan will start taking his appointments with the speech therapist very soon. His family is looking forward to the completion of the procedure soon, after which their son will be able to listen to the surroundings. Gradually, over the period of a few months, the volume of his component will be adjusted after which he will be able to hear normally.
