Before you dive into the gory details of Saad’s ailment, please know that you can help him. At the mere age of seventeen years, Saad has been bedridden for a while. For the last three years, Saad has been feeling immense pain in his hip joints. At first, he took some painkillers and waited for the pain to subside. But, over time, the pain got worse, and soon after, Saad was unable to walk. Therefore, he consulted a doctor who diagnosed him with Tuberculosis of the hip joint. This has affected every aspect of Saad’s life. He got treatment for T.B.

The only option to treat Saad’s deformity is Hip Replacement Surgery. The surgery will be performed on his left hip. Unfortunately, Saad’s parents are unable to bear the hefty cost of hip replacement surgery. Saad’s father works in a factory and hardly manages to earn PKR 20,000 per month. In this measly income, he is raising a family of eight people. With the rising inflation and post-pandemic closures, it is incredibly difficult for him to arrange for his son’s surgery. He told us:

“Saad is the apple of my eyes. He is only seventeen years old, and he has already seen the pain of a lifetime. My son was supposed to be my support but at this old age, I have to support my son. It breaks my heart.”

Saad Sabir's Story

Saad Sabir, a 17-year-old resident of Lahore, had been enduring pain in his hip joint for the last nine months. He was taking symptomatic treatment but it didn’t relieve his pain. Upon workup, he was initially diagnosed with Tuberculosis of the Hip and was advised medical treatment for this. After the completion of the medical treatment for TB, the doctors re-evaluated him and he was diagnosed to have been suffering from Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the left hip. For this purpose, Saad was advised to undergo total hip replacement. At the time of surgery, his plan was revised, and left hip release surgery was suggested. His procedure was performed successfully by Dr. Javaid Iqbal in PSRD on 31-08-2021. Saad was discharged after three days of hospital stay in satisfactory condition. Saad Sabir is doing much better now.
