Shabana Bibi's Story

Shabana Bibi, aged 29, hails from Multan and is looking for any help that you can offer the lady to make her right eye cataract surgery possible. This cataract surgery is known as phacoemulsification with an intraocular lens placement (Phaco + IOL). This is one of the most effective solutions for recovering and saving fast deteriorating eyesight due to cataract. First, the cloudy lens is dissolved using ultrasound waves, which are then removed via suction. Then, an artificial lens is inserted in its place. A surgery that Shabana needs desperately for her fast deteriorating eyesight, but one that she cannot afford!

Shabana Bibi hails from an underprivileged family. Things were always tough from a financial point of view. But ever since her husband met an accident that crippled him, life has been an arduous struggle for Shabana Bibi. The only stream of income that keeps life going in Shabana Bibi’s house comes from a small dairy setup. Sometimes, it is not even 10,000 PKR! Supporting a five-membered family in this small income is about as tough as things can get. Throw in Shabana Bibi’s eye surgery in this equation and things become even more imbalanced. This is exactly the reason why Shabana Bibi has not undergone the recommended treatment yet. She says:

“My choices are cruelly simple. Ensure that my kids have three meals a day or make sure that my eyesight doesn’t deteriorate to a point from where recovery is impossible. And even though the thought of losing my eyesight is intimidating enough to make me stop blinking, I will always put family first and above everything. In fact, if it were not for the nice people at Transparent Hands who made me all optimistic about my chances of having eye surgery, I would have dispelled the thought of my treatment from my mind a long time ago”

Transparent Hands is going to honour Shabana’s optimism by doing everything it can to ensure that Shabana Bibi gets her eye treatment. Any help from your side will make all the difference in the world! You know the patient, you know the story. All that you have to do to help Shabana Bibi is DONATE as much as you can for her right Phaco IOL NOW!
