Shahzadan Bibi is a senior citizen from the Jhang district, who suffers from left renal & PUJ stones. Without going into the reasons because of which renal stones form, let us talk about solutions that can bring Shahzadan Bibi’s life back to normal. She has been advised a PCNL surgery. PCNL stands for percutaneous nephrolithotomy, a minimally invasive procedure that facilitates the removal of kidney stones. The surgical intervention involves the infliction of a small puncture wound, which is big enough to allow the removal of stones as big as 2cm in size. This direct removal method is effective for removing stones present in the pelvic region. To relieve the ureteral obstructions, her ureterorenoscopy (URS) for stone detection and removal of ureteric stones will be done along with DJ stenting. 

The medical procedures that you just read about can put an end to Shahzadan Bibi’s misery. However, there is an unfortunate catch. You see, the patient hails from a rather underprivileged family. If one was to add up all the income streams that are keeping things going in Shahzadan Bibi’s home, the total number would not even cross 30,000 PKR per month.
