Muhammad Ismail's Story
“I have visited many hospitals to get proper treatments for my son but nobody was willing to help us. They are asking to pay a huge amount of money for my child’s surgery which is out of my reach. I’m very worried. I don’t know whether I would be able to save my child or not.”- sighed Ismail’s father.
Muhammad Ismail is a 6 years old child born with LVOT Obstruction, a congenital heart disease. When he was around 1 year old when his parents noticed breathlessness in him and took him to the local hospital immediately. Unfortunately, he didn’t get any relief from there.
His health condition worsened further as symptoms like breathing difficulties and palpitations occurred with increased physical activity or movement. He is also suffering from severe chest infections and frequent fever.
His parents went to Peshawar for better medical treatment where they came to know that Ismail needs an operation for permanent relief. Now public hospitals are just giving them dates but are unwilling to operate the child. His parents cannot afford to go to private hospitals because they cannot pay for expensive treatment or hospital bills.
Ismail’s father is a daily wage laborer and earns 12000 PKR per month. He has 5 kids and the patient is the eldest son of the family. Within this meager income, Ismail’s father is managing the household expenses of a big family.
“It was not Ismail’s fault to be born in a poor family. We just cannot let him die in poverty, without proper treatment or care.”
