Abdul Wahid's Story
“I am right-handed so having my right arm in a cast has incapacitated me to a great degree. I do not want it to get damaged to the point that it cannot be healed. It would be impossible to get back to normal life without it. I plead with everyone who reads this to help me out because I do not want to lose my arm.” – Abdul Wahid
Abdul Wahid, age 60, had an accident a week ago that led to a fracture in his right arm breaking his radius. He was provided with first aid and emergency treatment in a hospital followed by a prescription of painkiller injections and tablets. He was informed that the fracture would require an orthopedic operation – Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) with plating to heal.
Abdul runs a clothes shop and earns barely 15,000 PKR/month to support his family. He has 5 children but 4 of them are married and live separately. His wife and one of his daughters are dependent on him.
On such a limited income, Abdul cannot afford an expensive orthopedic surgery but without the surgery, his arm cannot be rehabilitated and may lose function altogether.
