Faizan Ali's Story

7-year-old Faizan Ali was diagnosed with anorectal malformation (ARM) at the time of his birth. This is a defect in which back passage fails to form for normal defecation. He had his first surgery, colostomy, done when he was only 3 days old. The doctors advised a second surgery called Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty (PSARP) when he turned 7 years old. Because of this condition, Faizan refrained from participating in normal day-to-day activities that other children his age usually enjoyed.

His family has visited the local hospitals many times since they want their son to have the final surgery. But, no hospital has entertained their case. They cannot afford the surgery on their own since Faizan’s father is a labourer and earns only PKR 15,000 a month. They have a total of five children. All family members are dependent on him.

“I have five children to feed. With my single income, it is impossible to pay for my son’s surgery. I feel very helpless”-Faizan’s father.

A physician told them about our organization. They visited our office and we have registered their case with us.

Faizan Ali's Story

Faizan Ali, 7 years old, was diagnosed with anorectal malformation. The doctors conducted a colostomy surgery on him when he was only three days old. Later, he was advised surgery that would enable him to pass stool through the normal passage. For this reason, Faizan was admitted in Akram Medical Complex and his surgery was performed by Dr. Muhammad Bilal Mirza on 04.12.2020. His Abdominoperineal pull-through procedure was carried out and back passage was surgically created. Faizan stayed in the hospital for five days and was discharged in a stable condition. He is in good health now.
