Farzana Tahir's Story

42-year-old Farzana Tahir is suffering from an enlarged uterus and fibroids in cervical region. She was diagnosed with this disease five years ago. The doctor has advised her to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, but her family cannot afford expensive treatment costs.

Farzana is going through severe pain in her abdomen along with heavy menstrual bleeding which makes her bed bound most of the days. She is not even able to perform her daily household chores. The doctor has advised her to get surgery as soon as possible otherwise her health can further deteriorate resulting in further loss of blood.

Now, she has become too weak to perform her day-to-day activities. She has visited several hospitals for a free treatment but was rejected help. Doctors would recommend her to undergo the surgery and then ask her to visit another hospital for help.

She belongs to a very poor family and has an adopted son who looks after her. They live in a rental house and go days without a meal. Her husband is a daily wager and hardly makes around 15,000 PKR a month. This income is not sufficient to meet their household expenses let alone her surgical procedure.

Farzana needs to undergo a TAH -a surgical procedure to remove the uterus through an incision in the lower abdomen for which she needs our help.

Farzana Tahir's Story

Farzana Tahir, 42 years old, experienced heavy menstrual bleeding for five years along with lower abdominal pain. On complete check-up, she was diagnosed to have a fibroid uterus for which she was advised a total abdominal hysterectomy. Her surgery was performed in Lahore Care Hospital on 12-12-2020 by Dr. Rakshanda Toheed. Farzana’s uterus was removed. She had a satisfactory postoperative recovery and was discharged with follow up advice after a hospital stay of four days. Farzana is in good health now and has resumed her routine activities.
