Nasim Mai's Story

Nasim Mai, age 36, has been suffering from severe pain and swelling in her lower abdomen for several years now. She went to her local hospital where she was diagnosed with an incisional hernia, for which the doctor recommended her to undergo surgery. Since her diagnosis of hernia, she has had three successive surgeries but the problem keeps recurring. In order to relieve her discomfort and pain, she requires another surgery- a mesh repair of the incisional hernia.

Nasim Mai’s local hospital has refused to offer her free surgical services again due to a long waiting list. Her husband cannot afford to pay for the surgical expenses at a private hospital because he can barely work on account of his disability. At best, he manages to earn 100 PKR a day working as a bread maker, with which he supports his family. Nasim Mai has been suffering from severe pain for the last few months and has now requested the help of Transparent Hands.

Nasim Mai's Story

Nasim Mai, 40 years of age, was suffering from a huge incisional hernia. She experienced abdominal pain and a lump at her previous exploratory laparotomy done 5 years ago. She was advised surgery for this condition. Her mesh hernioplasty was done on 22-04-20, in Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Hospital, by Dr Asim Shafi. She remained admitted for 4 days and had good post-operative recovery. She was discharged pain free.
